Ich beginne meine Arbeit mit einer kurzen Biographie Boccionis, in der vor allem die Kontakte zu den futuristischen Mitstreitern und zu anderen Künstlern, die ihn beeinflussten, aufgezeigt werden. Dem schließt sich ein Kapitel an, in dem der Futurismus und die dieser Stilrichtung zugrunde liegenden Manifeste und Ideen vorgestellt werden. Anschließend werden die Entwicklung in Boccionis Malweise hin zum Futurismus und des weiteren der Versuch der Umsetzung der in den futuristischen Manifesten proklamierten Theorien beschrieben. Die Vorstellung der Gemälde im vierten Kapitel orientiert sich im Wesentlichen an der Künstlermonographie von Uwe M. Schneede, der einen umfassenden Einblick in das Oeuvre des Künstlers vermittelt. Der Schwerpunkt liegt auf den futuristischen Arbeiten, da Boccioni als einer der Hauptvertreter dieser Stilrichtung gilt. Insgesamt behandelt die Arbeit den Schaffenszeitraum Boccionis von 1905-1916, ein recht kurzer Zeitraum, in dem Boccioni eine interessante Entwicklung durchlaufen hat.
