Windows-1250 Character Table

Windows-1250 covers Central and Eastern European languages that use Latin script, including Polish, Czech, Hungarian, Romanian, and Croatian. Microsoft introduced it for Windows 3.1 in 1992 as a replacement for the DOS-era code pages (CP852 and others). It shares codes 0 through 127 with ASCII and most of the 128 through 159 range with CP1252, but positions 160 through 255 contain accented characters specific to Slavic and Baltic languages. Mixing CP1250 with ISO-8859-2 produces subtle corruption because the two encodings assign different characters to about 20 code points in the extended range.

Control Characters

33Same as standard ASCII
The first 32 codes (plus code 127) are non-printable control characters originally used for signaling hardware devices. Only a handful - Tab (9), Line Feed (10), Carriage Return (13), and Escape (27) - remain in common use.
