ISO-8859-10 Character Table

ISO-8859-10 (Latin-6) serves the Nordic languages, including Icelandic, Faroese, and the Sámi languages spoken across northern Scandinavia. Published in 1992 as a replacement for the inadequate ISO-8859-4 (Latin-4), it adds the Sámi-specific letters (ŋ, Ŋ, ŧ, Ŧ, đ, Đ) that Latin-4 lacked. The encoding also fully covers Icelandic (thorn þ, eth ð, and all accented vowels), making it the only ISO 8859 part that handles the complete modern Icelandic alphabet in a single byte. Despite this coverage, UTF-8 supplanted Latin-6 before it achieved widespread adoption outside government and academic systems in the Nordic region.
