ISO-8859-2 Character Table

ISO-8859-2 (Latin-2) targets Central European languages written in Latin script, including Polish, Czech, Slovak, Hungarian, Slovenian, Croatian, and Romanian. Published in 1987, it shares the ASCII range and most of the Latin-1 punctuation but replaces Western European accented letters with characters carrying háček, ogonek, double acute, and breve marks. The encoding covers 10 languages well but cannot handle Serbian or Bosnian Cyrillic, which require ISO-8859-5 or UTF-8. Mixing Latin-2 with Latin-1 in the same document produces garbled diacritics because characters like code 232 map to different letters in each standard.
