ISO-8859-7 Character Table
ISO-8859-7 encodes the modern Greek alphabet as defined by ELOT 928 and ECMA-118. Published in 1987, it covers monotonic Greek (the simplified single-accent system Greece adopted in 1982) but not the polytonic accents used in classical texts and pre-reform writing. Greek uppercase letters start at code 193 (Alpha) through 217 (Omega), with lowercase at 225 through 249. The encoding also includes the Greek question mark (;) at code 187, which looks identical to a semicolon but is a different Unicode code point. This lookalike has caused bugs in syntax-sensitive software that processes Greek text.
